Our Kingsway premium Adelaide Hills Chardonnay is produced from vines located next to Razorback Road, Kangarilla, in the southern Adelaide Hills. The grapes are predominately French clone 95 Chardonnay, with a small % of French clone 76. The greatest care has been taken with this wine, from handpicking of the grapes to selection of the finest French oak and the use of wild yeast and nine months spent on yeast lees. This care and attention has provided a wine that is finely textured with layers of subtle complexity. This wine continues a fine tradition of world class cool climate white wines from the Adelaide Hills.
Fine aromas, expressing a demur restraint as much as subtle stone fruits and truffled lees accents. A billow of oak defines the cushy, mid-weighted palate. The finish, of modest length, pinched by the oak tannins. Ned Goodwin MW, for James Halliday Golden straw in colour, a vibrant wine with aromas of white peach and citrus fruits backed by subtle hints of nougat and cashew nuts. An elegant style with a finely textured palate and bright natural acidity reflecting the 2020 vintage. The 2020 Kingsway Chardonnay delivers elegance and complexity with delicious fruit flavours supported by subtle oak nuances, creaminess and texture from lees ageing and partial malolactic fermentation.
